A 34-year-old Dieppe man was killed early Thursday (9 novembre) afternoon when he was crushed amid the wreckage of a tractor-trailer which missed a sharp curve along the highway near here. Dead is Allain Joseph Gould of Acadia Avenue, Dieppe, driver and lone occupant of the plywood laden tractor trailer.

The spokesman said the mishap occurred at about 3:15 p.m. midway between Plaster Rock and Grand Falls. The vehicle, he said, was owned by a Rivière-du-Loup firm and was heavily laden with plywood. The weight of the load could have been a major factor in the crash, he ventured. Coroner Dr. S. Rabatich of Plaster Rock viewed the crash scene and ordered no autopsy, no inquest necessary in the fatal accident.

Born at Memramcook East, he was a son of Robert and the late Marguerite (LeBlanc) Gould. He had been employed with the Quebec based firm as a driver for the past year and a half.

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Andréa, and son, Ricky; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Médias LeBlanc of Memramcook East; two sisters, Mrs. François Vinet (Rose-Mai) of Memramcook East and Mrs. Léon-Guy Léger (Dorice) of St. Joseph; five brothers, Francis of Moncton, Eugène and Reggie, both of St Joseph, Yvon of Dieppe and Marcel Gould of Memramcook East. The body will rest at Dupuis’ funeral home, Memramcook. Funeral arrangements will be announced.
